Food crawl Toronto

Be it a wedding or an award ceremony, everyone always remembers one thing: the food! When the taste in your palette is satisfactory, the evening is that much more rewarding. As an event planner, food planning is crucial. Let’s talk food crawl!

While living downtown Toronto can be expensive, it still remains a destination of choice for foodies from all over. What’s my trick to get the best goods to satisfy even the most difficult palettes?  Go to different places to eat different courses. It sounds so simple, but it really is the way to go about it! Not only does it provide the chance to try different dishes and venues, but it always makes it easier for me to make recommendations to my clients.

Here’s a peak at some of my favourites to create a custom 3-course meal:

Appetizer

Who doesn’t want to start their first course meal with something comfortingly soft and gooey? Try the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns from Cactus Club Café (77 Adelaide Street W.). Pro tip: While the restaurant only lists it as a main dish on their menu, you can ask for this dish as an appetizer! It comes with three delicious pieces, but if you ask your server politely they may add a fourth piece so you can share. Vegetarian? No problem! Toss the prawns aside to your date and enjoy the ravioli goodness. Yum!

Entrée

My ultimate favourite for out of town friends is the oyster nights at Chase Restaurant (10 Temperance St.). You can’t go wrong PERIOD! Order a side of those scrumptious buns (they come hot with a bit of honey). Not into seafood? Head over to Kensington Market for a Reggae Lasagna from Rasta Pasta (61 Kensington Ave) or walk a few doors down for chicken and waffles from Dirty Bird (79 Kensignton Ave).

Dessert

Try Nadège (120 Adelaide St. W.) for delicious pastries. I love the almond chocolate croissant but the macaroons from the French patisserie are also to die for. Since everything is on display, take a pick at anything that pleases your eyes. You won’t regret it!

Psssst! I recommend tying this out on dates too! While it does take a bit of planning, think of this as a food-crawl to get to know your date through their palette!
